WMOM Lake Jump 2002 surpassed everyone’s expectations. The number of jumpers tripled to over 150, and the amount of money raised doubled to just under $10,000. 2002 also marked the year that the WMOM Lake Jump would be recognized nationwide. The Ludington Daily News always covered and supported the event, but now its reputation was growing fast. It managed to catch the attention of a variety of other media outlets. Footage from MOM’s annual springtime plunge was seen on local newscasts across West Michigan, but it didn’t stop there. It also found way to the Cable News Network, giving cable viewers across the entire country a chance to witness Ludington’s beautiful shoreline and the rapidly growing tradition of WMOM’s Lake Jump.
