2023 BENEFICIARY:
MASON COUNTY YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
On April 22nd over 60 community members participated in the 24th Annual Ludington Lake Jump at Stearns Park. The skies were cloudy, the sun peaked out occasionally, and the temperature was a cool 42 degrees.
This year the Mason County Youth Advisory Council were the fortunate beneficiaries. Their initial goal was to raise $20,000, but they quickly amended it to $60,000 once the process began. Pennies from Heaven readily agreed to match up to $30,000 raised. Many local businesses and individuals did not hesitate to support their endeavor and a resounding $60,603.01 was raised. The goal was met!
In May (this month) the Youth Advisory Council will film their PSA on teen stress. Be sure to look for it at our local AMC theater this summer, as well as on social media. Additionally, their endowment will be increased, allowing them to provide more grants to help local youth.

The Youth Advisory Council is a special “youth as grantmakers” project of the Community Foundation for Mason County. The YAC is made up of student representatives from Mason County schools and supported by adult advisors. The YAC engages young people in solving real problems affecting their communities and peers. This group of young people is Mason County’s own local panel of experts regarding youth issues who provide recommendations to the Community Foundation’s board of directors about grants to be awarded from the fund each year. The YAC meets monthly during the school year to carry out their work.
